Dental Exams & Cleanings
What are Dental Exams & Cleanings?
Exams allow us to check for problems before they’re allowed to get worse. Cleanings are essential in removing tartar, stains, and buildup while caring for the health of your gums.
You should aim to have cleanings and exams done every six months as part of a solid, comprehensive preventative care routine. Even if it’s been a while since your last dental appointment, we offer care in a judgment-free, warm and inviting atmosphere.
Why They're Important
If you fail to come into the office for a routine cleaning and exam, tartar will continue to buildup on your teeth, causing issues with tooth decay and gum inflammation. Minor problems will eventually become more severe, requiring more extensive work to treat.
Regardless of how long it’s been since your last dental appointment, we look forward to you coming in and taking a proactive approach to the health of your smile.
What Age To Start Regular Checkups
We even recommend that infants and toddlers as young as one year old come in for their first dental appointment.
By caring for your teeth and finding problems before they’re able to get worse, you’re able to maintain a full and healthy smile for life.
What You Can Expect From Your Visit
To begin, our hygienist will perform a cleaning on your teeth to remove built-up tartar and stains. The hygienist will then polish and floss your teeth before checking your gums. The gums are carefully measured to check for pocketing, which could be a sign of gingivitis and gum disease.
The dentist then comes in for an examination to determine if any additional work is needed. We will create a treatment plan if you are going to need other work done in the future.
